Peterson of Dublin and Sherlock Holmes have maintained a strong bond ever since Basil Rathbone first used a Peterson pipe in a movie. Rathbone's famed depiction of the world-renowned detective, in a total of 14 films, lasted from 1939-1946. Since 1987, Peterson's Sherlock Holmes pipes have been a tribute to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories. The Peterson's Thinking Man logo is an intrinsic aspect of the Irish marque's historic legacy, accompanying a slogan from 1905 until the 1980s: "The Thinking Man Smokes a Peterson Pipe."
