Peterson of Dublin and Sherlock Holmes have maintained a strong bond ever since Basil Rathbone first used a Peterson pipe in a movie. Rathbone's famed depiction of the world-renowned detective, in a total of 14 films, lasted from 1939-1946. Since 1987, Peterson's Sherlock Holmes pipes have been a tribute to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic stories. To join this collection of pipes is the Peterson Sherlock Holmes tamper, which is made with high-grade pewter and features a sculpture of the recognizable pipe-smoking detective at the top.
The Peterson's Thinking Man logo is an intrinsic aspect of the Irish marque's historic legacy, accompanying a slogan from 1905 until the 1980s: "The Thinking Man Smokes a Peterson Pipe." It's similar in design and size to Peterson's Sherlock Holmes tamper, only with the Thinking Man's signature glasses, pipe, while pondering expression.
