Alfred Dunhill White Spot In 1915, the famous white spot was introduced because many people had trouble knowing which way to insert the handmade vulcanite mouthpieces. So Alfred Dunhill ordered white spots to be placed on the upper side of the stem. This was a good and practical solution  to the problem. This would later become a destined  trademark for the Dunhill pipes. The “white spot” later became known as a symbol of quality.

The Ruby Bark Briar Pipes was first introduced as Redbark in 1972. The red stained sandblast was originally a medium red stain but as time went on it was changed to a brighter red, almost pink in colour. After sales began to plummet, it was retired in 1987. Now this stunning finish has been reintroduced back to the original colour under the name Ruby Bark and we say that it was a very wise decision indeed.

Dunhill Size Groupings:  Although the scarcity of fine briar has always necessitated the pricing of Dunhill according to the amount of roots employed in their manufacture, it is important to remember that, irrespective of size and price, they are of one quality only – the finest. The bowls are sorted into 6 groups.
